Circulation Policy

Liberty Public Library Circulation Policy

Your library card allows you to borrow various materials from this library and from other libraries in the Ramapo Catskill Library System (RCLS). By registering your child for a library card, you have accepted full responsibility for all use of that card, including the type of materials borrowed. The library will not limit your child's use of the card. We recommend family use of the library, especially for young children. We ask your cooperation in helping us make this a library that is a welcoming place for everyone.

Library Cards

Your first library card is free; if you lose your card there is a $2.00 replacement charge. Please bring your card each time you want to borrow materials. Please inform the library of any address or phone number changes. It is also your responsibility to notify us when you have lost your card. By registering a child for a card, parents or guardians accept responsibility for all fines/replacement costs including DVDs.

First Time Borrowers

The first time you borrow items, you may borrow 2 items (only 1 DVD). When those items are returned and your library record has less than $5.00 in fines, you may borrow up to 50 total items with the following borrowing rules:

Renewals

Books may be renewed a maximum of 2 times

DVDs/VHS may be renewed 1 time

Items that have been borrowed from a different library may not be able to be renewed and are subject to the fine policy in place at that library.

Items will not be able to be renewed if another patron has the item reserved.

You may renew by phone, in person or online. Renewals for Interlibrary Loan materials and items on hold/reserve depend on the policies of the lending library.
