PLAN OF SERVICE 2022-2027

GOAL 1.  PROVIDE LITERACY PROGRAMS AND MATERIALS FOR

                CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS

            Objectives/Activities: 

  1. Continue existing core programs: Toddler Storytime, Saturday afternoon programs, Bookworm Club, and Summer Reading utilizing virtual/hybrid and outdoor program options as needed
  2. Continue Teen Advisory Group, Teen Battle of the Books, and new teen programming initiatives
  3. Continue to work with school personnel and parents of active children & young adults for programming suggestions
  4. Continue to obtain grants, as needed, for summer family fun performances
  5. Improve the usage of youth digital media resources through additional publicity
  6. Reestablish annual art and photography shows of Liberty Central School District youth once picture railing is installed (see GOAL 3a)
  7. Expand STEM (Science, Technology & Emerging Math) programming and materials
  8. Offer Early Literacy backpacks for children to borrow
  9. Upgrade AWE learning computers in children’s room

GOAL 2.  PROVIDE RESOURCES AND SERVICES TO PROMOTE

               LIFE-LONG LEARNING AND ENTERTAINMENT

 Objectives/Activities: 

  1. Continue to select and add materials based on community needs and usage.
  2. Continue to offer and promote Favorite Authors Club
  3. Keep the collection current by actively weeding materials that have not been used in 3-5 years or are outdated, or in poor condition
  4. Continue existing core programs offered for adults: Book Discussion, Senior Coffee Club, TASC Class (GED), knitter’s- crocheter’s group, Tax Prep Assistance, Medicare information sessions, and Health Care Enrollment Assistance utilizing virtual/hybrid and outdoor program options as needed
  5. Expand our collection of newer technologies such as downloadable digital materials, and streaming video
  6. Continue books by mail program (as long as county funding remains in place) for outreach to homebound patrons. 

GOAL 3.  MAINTAIN AND UPGRADE LIBRARY BUILDING TO MEET THE

                  NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY

 Objectives/Activities:

  1. Install picture railing throughout the building to allow for art displays and shows
  2. Purchase a new outdoor bookdrop
  3. Sand and paint front railings
  4. Continue to improve outside landscaping around the library building

GOAL 4.  PROMOTE AND INCREASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND USE

                OF THE LIBRARY’S SERVICES, RESOURCES AND PROGRAMS

Objectives/Activities:

  1. Continue to provide the community with periodic library newsletters, email notifications, Facebook posts, calendars, bookmarks, and flyers describing new resources, programming, and policy changes.
  2. Promote use of our digitized newspaper, The Liberty Register, with signage in the building and information published in our e-newsletter.
  3. Assist the Friends of Liberty Library (FOLL) with their fundraising and outreach activities and in expanding their membership
