Libraries join forces to distribute holiday cards to area nursing homes

A Holiday Card Shower held by the Liberty Public Library and the Western Sullivan Public Library resulted in the community rallying to create nearly 300 cards for residents in local nursing homes.  Throughout December, both libraries offered "take-and-make" card kits to their patrons.  Cards were handmade by community members of all ages.  From stickers, to beads, to origami trees, each card contained a special message to a resident at the nursing homes.   One of the participants told us that it was self-healing for her to create these cards because she recently lost a loved one this year who was living in a nursing home.   She said it made her feel good and hopes to be able to do something like this again soon.
