Building Project Info & Construction Updates

Our library is embarking on an exciting project to renovate the existing building and construct an addition

Excavation began December 6, 2018.   Click here for photos.

For those who wish to make a donation for the building fund, a check made out to Liberty Public Library marked 'building fund' can be mailed to 111 Sullivan Avenue, Ferndale, NY 12734. We appreciate your donations.

On August 9, 2016 Liberty Central School District voters approved a $1.9 million bond* for the project. It is estimated to cost homeowners approximately $13-$16 a year per $100,000 of assessed property value. Construction is expected to begin Spring 2018.

Project highlights include:

  • Complete renovation of existing building, plus expansion with a 3-level addition

  • Elevator = accessibility to all

  • Two new fully accessible bathrooms

  • Dedicated space for programming

  • Meeting rooms for tutoring and study

  • More space for the library's collection, programming and technology needs

Please see the links along the side for more information.

*Please note that this figure is a maximum amount.  The Library is actively applying for grants for this project which would then lower the overall bond amount and the tax impact.
